When the general public consider a family vacation, they think of theme parks, camping trips, and long hours in the vehicle. But if you need to show your youngsters to something which will leave an enduring impact and widen their horizons, a China family vacation could be the very thing. But what is there for the family to do in China? More than you can imagine, actually.

For the kids, there’s plenty to do in China. While they might not understand the language or the cultural significance of the differences, youngsters will enjoy the leisure activities offered in China. From pro-level baseball and basketball games featuring home-grown Chinese talent [*COMMA] to the sublime and stylish Chinese ballets, there are visible wonders everywhere. Youngsters will also likely be amazed by the vision of the dragon ship race holidays, which include exciting boat races, unique cultural displays, and plenty of other visually impressive and culturally pointed events.

For the parents, the design of China could be a extremely strong draw. From the temples to the most simple buildings, Chinese architecture is so different and so lovely that visitors cannot help but stop and stare. While Western design tends to build their structures tall and narrow, Chinese buildings are shorter and wider, and usually, much more baroque than visitors are used to. No better example of this exists than the banned town complex in the center of Beijing. Here, the complicated and detailed planning that went into the design of a town inside a city will astound even moderate fans of good design, and completely overmaster those that understand the subtleties of architectural design.

For all the family, there are tons of dazzling and tutorial sights to find out together, like the Great Wall of China ; amazing restaurants to try, for the bold and for people that want something simple ; markets and shopping that are at once comfortably similar to home and wildly different than anything ever experienced before ; the remaining buildings from the Olympic Games Games to inspire and shock ; and so very much more.

China vacations might not be the most well liked choice going in, but if you can convince your folks to give it a try, it’ll likely become the best holiday you’ve ever taken as a family, and one that you’ll talk about for the remainder of your lives. China offers something for every member of the family, irrespective of what their interests are.

Hi There to all from the Kruger National Park,

This is a report received from one of our guides Mark while on safari in the Kruger National Park with Erwin Doorenspleet from the 29th November to the 2nd December 2009

Now this had to be a wacka of a trip as the first animal we came across on entering the Kruger Park was a massive White Rino bull. This chap was big and I estimate him at approximately 1.8 Ton easily. Massive main horn, honed to perfection. Rather placid while the vehicle was next to him, approximately 3 – 5m away from us on the left hand side. We proceeded to Pretoriuskop to have a quick bite to eat and to book in to the rest camp for the duration of our stay.

As you know me, I couldn’t wait to get back into the bush. Fortunately as it was my guests first day in the Kruger, they to were happy to get out there. After a quick bite to eat we left Pretoriuskop camp, my route planned for the afternoon was Shebeni Koppies, Albesini north to doispan Road East to River Rd Link. Turn around and follow exactly the same route back. Later this worked in our favor as by the time we got back to camp many animal species were seen.

On the Doispan road 1,8kms before the River link road at approx 16h15 we got sight of a female Leopard lying in an African wattle tree facing eastwards. (Typical postcard photo). further on down the road a herd (20 plus) of elephants crossing from south to east.

Back to Albasini, we found a herd of buffalo crossing over towards Mestal dam. It felt good to be in the park and within 2.5 hrs we had see 4 of the “big 5″. With this in mind it was time to head back to camp.

As you all know, early rise with a cup of coffee we left camp heading North. My idea was to head along the main road between Pretoriuskop and Skakuza. Something that stood out for me, was our sighting of 2 Sable antelope approximately 10 – 15m off the road facing us (What a sight as I thought back to when last I saw one so close.) We continued North and approx 1kilometer from Matekanyane view point we had a sighting of a Black Rino bull moving eastwards.

Approx 2.2kms past the H3 junction which goes down to the Malalane gate, we spotted 2 Female Lion sleeping in the open. Not the best sighting as I would estimate them to be approx 30m of the road.
As we crossed over the Sand River, I decided to take the Marula Loop road and 500m down came across 2 humongous black mained male Lions. Both were lying on the edge of the road and brilliant photos were taken.

Up to the Tshokwane picnic spot we saw lots of general game and fabulous amounts of birds were encountered. After eating a brunch (very late breakfast – due to the amount of animal sightings) we moved Eastwards on the H10 to Lower Sabie. While on this road a number of good sightings were encountered of rhino, buffalo, elephant and general game.

At the junction to Mlondozi Dam off the H10, we came across a pair of mating Lions. Good to see nature is still on the go and the Lion is still king.
Looking up into the east, I could see a cloud build up and decided to head back to Pretoriuskop. After a visit to the camp of Lower Sabie, we made our way back to Skukuza, stopping off at various sightings of elephant and buffalo as well as general game along the way. After a short stop at the camp of Skukuza, we made our way back to camp for the night and the potential of some heavy rain.

The night sounded like a battle field in the sky’s as the thunder roared. This was confirmed the next day with little animal movement and sightings. What also played a major role was the sudden drop in temperatures. Even the new Impala lambs where aware of the change in weather.

We decided that we would take advantage of the weather and visited many different historical sites during the course of the day. Always enjoying the general game viewing as we spent our time in the African bushveld.

The night was cold and the next morning we had breakfast at Pretoriukop. On leaving the park its always interesting to see what is the last specie of animal is, to come out and say goodbye. Strange to this we had a sighting of 8 Sable antelope, wishing our guests

” Goodnight, God bless and Goodbye”.

Till next time and we meet again,

Going cheap to Seattle Or cheap to Argentina can be a big time blast if you know a few tips and tricks and of course plan out some of your trip in advance. Take Seattle for example. You can easily go spend an entire day down at the Pike Place Market and never once get even close to being bored. The Pike Place Market is a multiple level (I think 4 levels if memory serves me right) complex of really super interesting shops and curios, street performers and fish markets, restaurants and espresso shops. There is literally something for everyone.

Then, in my own personal opinion if one wants to go cheap to Seattle there are likely no better cheap eats (food) than at the Three Sisters Bakery in the Pike Place Market. They have constantly been ranked as the best sandwich in Seattle for I don’t know, maybe 10 years now! No kidding they really are that good. I have had sandwiches in country’s from Russia to Argentina and never had better. And no I don’t own stock in the joint.

From the market it’s just a hop, skip and a jump to the Ferry terminal where for just a few dollars (if you’re into walking and don’t take your car) you can go island hoping to 6 or 8 Islands all in one day. You simply buy the multi Island pass or whatever they call it now and walk on to the ferry. You can then stop on any of the islands that they make their stops at. It’s a complete blast that costs less than a lot of bad times I’ve had that’s for sure. And if you’re up for it you can get the multi day pass and hop Islands for a few days spending the night at the ones you want to check out a little further.

Argentina has my favorite backpackers paradise in the whole planet, and her name is Patagonia! Oh my word what an amazing place. To be in the middle of such awe inspiring beauty is absolutely just indescribable at best. Never have I seen such diversity in the wild coupled with a few towns that are as different as milk toast and rocket fuel. You honestly feel like you just got off the journey in Switzerland or Austria not South America.

Now, so how do you do this place on the cheap? Simple, like I said it’s a backpackers Utopia so you get out into nature and see things I will bet you never saw before not even on all the Natural channels and programs on Television. This place is the Disneyland of the outdoors. It will blow your mind, all I can say is… Better bring a camera.

Depending on where you’re located, summer in the USA can mean blistering heat and long days of the purest sunshine. Most people would choose this over wet and cold weather of course, but you can easily become too hot in many places, and that’s not fun either. What you can do though is take a trip to somewhere you can find cool waters and a chilled out atmosphere that will make you feel fresh again. Here is a review of three such places you can find in the States.

Newport Beach Resort, California. This place is a huge favorite of Hollywood’s rich and famous and is one of the top places to be seen in the summer months. American holidays to Newport have seen a sharp increase in the last 5 years, partly due to the increased profile of the resort, but also because it now boasts some of the best shopping and restaurants in the whole country.

Key West, Florida.Arguably the best location in the Florida Keys, Key West has got everything from stunning scenery to amazing tropical reefs. You can hire a boat for the day and do a bit of fishing, and when it gets a bit hot just take a quick dip and do some snorkeling…pure heaven. If you want a bit more entertainment then head into town, where you’ll find street performers, artists and more bars serving refreshing drinks than almost any other American holidays resort.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark, Texas. If it’s hot and you’ve got kids, then chances are they won’t be satisfied hanging around drinking pina coladas all day, or maybe they will. They are more likely though to want to spend their time splashing around and zipping down water slides, which makes Schlitterbahn Waterpark the perfect place to visit. This water park hosts an impressive 65-acres worth of water fun and constantly updates its attractions, which explains why it wins numerous awards each year.

If you still can’t cool down enough however and you’re not enjoying summer, you can always go on Canada holidays instead, where the climate is a little fresher.
